SPRING 2025 QUARTER

Sunday School for ages 2 through adults at 9:30 a.m. before the Worship Service.  Please join us!

CHILDREN

The Sunday School curriculum for our PreK-5th grade classes is “Investigating God’s Word” from One Story Ministries. It is a 7-year, comprehensive, Christ-centered curriculum covering Genesis to Revelation in a systematic way. God’s Word is presented chronologically, demonstrating how all the stories and teaching of Scripture connect to one another historically.  Each lesson has a short introduction, review of previous learning, a vocabulary word of the week, historical context of the scripture covered that day, and then reading and investigation of the Bible passage. Each week, children receive a bookmark with that week's memory verse.

2 - 3 Year Olds (Nursery Class):  God's Story Bible  (Great Commission)

Children in the nursery during the Sunday School hour will have a short Bible lesson and some play time. We will be using the God's Story Bible Coloring Book from Great Commission Publications. Each lesson includes a Bible verse or passage that emphasizes Bible truths through the reading of God's word, fun activities, catechism questions, and a coloring sheet.

Pre-Kindergarten-1st Grade:  (One Story Ministries)

This quarter's lessons will take the children through the first 14 chapters of the Gospel of Matthew.  Matthew begins with a genealogy connecting the birth of Christ all the way back to Abraham.  Jesus is shown to be a human descendant of Abraham, as well as the only Son of God.  From the birth of Christ to His ministry on earth and his teachings and miracles, we see that Jesus teaches that true faith enables His disciples to enjoy the power of God in their lives.

2nd - 3rd Grade:   (One Story Ministries)

This quarter covers 1 Samuel 1-15.  1 Samuel begins with the story of a barren woman whom God uses to bring about great things amoungst His people.  This woman, Hannah, cries out to the Lord and vows to dedicate her son to the Lord if He would be so gracious as to bless her with one.  God sees her sorrow and answers her prayer.  She names her son Samuel, which means "the name of God".  Samuel becomes God's chosen prophet who speaks God's words to the people the rest of his life.  Samuel anoints Saul as the first king of Israel.

4th - 5th Grade:    (One Story Ministries)

This quarter covers 11 Kings 1-12, II Chronicles 21-24, Joel, and Jonah.  This quarter continues to introduce the many Kings of Judah and Israel, beginning with Ahaziah, son of Ahab, on the throne of Israel.  He is just as wicked as his father, worshipping Baal rather than the Lord.  Elijah is used to bring God's word to the kings and people of Israel until he is taken to heaven in a whirlwind.  Elisha replaces him as God's prophet, asking for a double portion of Elijah's spirit.  We see more bad kings and many works of Elisha throughout these chapters of II Kings.  Joel and Jonah are covered at the end of the quarter, as Joel likely prophesied to Judah during the reign of King Joash and the story of Jonah probably occurred right after Elisha was prophesying in Israel.

 YOUTH

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

This quarter, the middle school students will continue a slow journey through the Westminster Shorter Catechism. They will examine the Bible verses that support each answer and develop a deeper understanding of this important document.

High School (Grades 9-12)

The high school class will be continuing their study of a high-level overview of the New Testament. This survey study will help the student gain a "big picture" of the New Testament and see how it is part of God's story of redemption in Jesus Christ.

ADULT CLASSES

Knowing Sin by Mark Jones   Led by Pastor Jason Wegener and Elder Slocomb

Come join us this quarter as we undertake a study on the doctrine of sin.  While some might think that such a study should be reserved for only introspective and morbid souls, we hope to discover that there is in fact no greater way to know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ than to come face to face with our greatest enemy, our sin.  As we use writings from some of the best Puritan minds, we will examine whether or not our understanding of sin is based in the Bible or if wordly philosophy has crept into our thoughts.  And while we will all have struggles in this period between the "already" and "not yet", we must clearly define sin in order to "repentence until life".

Shepherding a Child's Heart    Led by Elders Campbell and Rankin

This class outline Biblical guidelines on parenting well through the various stages of a child's life and development.  The premise of Tripp's "Shepherding a Child's Heart" is to learn how to speak to the heart of your child, as the things your child does and says flow from the heart (Luke 6:45).  The goal of this class will be to better equip parents to raise up their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
