Advent 2025: Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Do we long to see our Savior? Often that phrase is associated only with those who are facing death. However, all believers should desire to see Jesus more clearly in this life. We should long to understand His person and His work, so that we might love Him more and know Him better. The Advent season gives us opportunity to consider our Lord in His incarnation. This year, we plan to look to the prophet Isaiah to see the prophesies of long ago and how they anticipated the Savior. Isaiah has a variety of pictures which describe the Lord- He is the Branch, the Servant, the Wonderful Counselor, and He is Immanuel. These are just a few of the ways this prophet described the promised Messiah. Isaiah lived in an age where they eagerly longed to see the Savior themselves. May God grant us grace to see our Savior with fresh eyes in this Advent season as we join our voices with those from long ago to say, Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.
